PRODUCT SOLUTION
Tunnel Thrusters
Proven Reliability Backed by Decades of Experience
Since beginning production of tunnel thrusters in 1976, we have consistently developed, manufactured, and supplied high-performance, highly reliable thrusters. With over 7,000 units delivered, our extensive experience and technical expertise have enabled us to build thrusters with exceptional dependability. Drawing on the knowledge gained from numerous production achievements we offer tunnel thrusters that can be operated with confidence as part of a fully integrated system—including associated peripheral equipment and control systems.
■Both controllable pitch and fixed pitch models feature compact, durable unit construction. The thruster can be removed from the hull for easy maintenance and inspection on land.
■The propeller shaft seal uses the same type as our main propulsion stern tube seals, ensuring proven reliability. Compatible with Environmentally Acceptable Lubricants (EALs) in accordance with the U.S. EPA39;s Vessel General Permit (VGP). Both pitch actuation and lubrication oils are used which simplifies maintenance.
■Controllable pitch thrusters come standard with a high-performance filter in the gravity oil tank, keeping the oil clean for both lubrication and pitch actuation.
■The remote-control unit for controllable pitch thrusters features a touch-panel LCD display, allowing centralized monitoring of system status—including peripheral equipment—from the bridge console stand. This enhances operational safety and ease of use for the operator.
■Our global service network spans Asia, the Middle East, Europe, Africa, North America, and South America, providing reliable maintenance and after-sales support wherever you operate.
MODEL NT-F – Fixed Pitch Tunnel Thruster
Propeller Diameter: 295 mm to 3,150 mm
Input Power: 10 kW to 3,800 kW
Compact and Powerful Thruster with Enhanced Thrust
Utilizing our extensive experience as a propeller manufacturer and our advanced large-scale CFD analysis capabilities, we have developed an optimal blade shape from a wide range of design options. The result is a compact yet powerful thruster that delivers approximately 20% more nominal thrust compared to our previous models.
Its compact size not only offers greater flexibility in installation, but also allows for placement farther from the vessel’s centerline increasing the turning moment and thereby improving maneuverability. The smaller tunnel opening helps reduce hull resistance, contributing to overall energy efficiency.

MODEL NT-C – Controllable Pitch Tunnel Thruster
Propeller Diameter: 700 mm to 3,150 mm
Input Power: 45 kW to 3,800 kW
The “Optimal” Solution for Every Requirement
For vessels such as research ships, where underwater noise is a critical concern, we have developed specially designed propeller blades that significantly reduce underwater noise levels. For heavy-lift vessels or other ships that experience large variations in draft during operation, we offer special shaft seals that allow for unrestricted thruster use under all conditions. Backed by a proven track record across a wide range of vessel types, we deliver optimal thruster designs tailored to meet the unique demands of each application.
