RETROFIT

Features of Nakashima's Retrofit Solutions

Propellers are originally designed under optimal conditions that consider the maximum output of the main engine. However, in the future, restrictions such as EEXI (Energy Efficiency Existing Ship Index) and CII (Carbon Intensity Indicator) compliance are expected to require power limitations and slower operations. In response, evaluating each vessel’s actual operating conditions and replacing the propeller with one optimized for its specific zoperation—a process known as *retrofit*—enables operation with higher propulsion efficiency. At Nakashima Propeller, we leverage decades of design and manufacturing experience, along with advanced CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics), to propose state-of-the-art propeller designs for each vessel based on its current (main engine output, vessel speed) or planned operational profile.

In addition to propellers, we also provide retrofit services for a variety of energy-saving devices.
